MTV News is the music, movies, celebrity, television, style and pop culture news, information and conversation authority for the Millennial audience, producing a diverse mix of daily news articles, insider specials, live red carpet shows, exclusive music video and movie premieres, as well as exclusive artist and celebrity interviews on-air, online, via mobile and across social media.
My role was to create a variety of style frames for MTV News. These are celebrity-driven videos, breaking down the basics of voting and why the 2018 Midterm Elections are essential. I built a few style example frames using bright hues and bold graphics that will highlight and grab the attention of young viewers.
The case study of the final frames designs on And/Or.
For these style frames, using red, blue and yellow but in bold hues, was a way to make a topic such as voting more dynamic and attractive for a younger audience. The talent is what drives the story and information, so they have to sit well with 2D graphics. The design elements can also be used dynamically for credit and promo treatments, utilizing typeface, color, and shapes.
This concept, designed by the studio And/Or, was one I assisted with and edited the frames below using their developed brand, color, texture, style, and type design. These are not the final case study design but have a heavy hand in the final look. The final case study can be viewed here, MTV The Breakdown by And/Or.
